Position Summary:
Teachers at Promise Academy play a pivotal role in fulfilling the school’s mission by cultivating a
learning environment rooted in excellence, innovation, and love for learning. Teachers are expected
to maintain high expectations for all students, deliver rigorous instruction, and contribute to a culture
where diversity, equity, empathy, and inclusion are upheld daily.
Specific Responsibilities:
Instructional Excellence:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, standards-aligned lessons that engage all learners.
- Establish clear learning objectives for all lessons, units, and assessments, and ensure
students understand them. - Use data to inform instruction, adjust lesson plans, and drive student achievement.
- Administer and grade assessments and assignments to monitor and support student progress.
Classroom Culture & Student Growth:
Create a safe, supportive, and structured classroom environment that fosters respect and a
love of learning.
- Establish and enforce clear expectations and procedures to maintain an orderly classroom.
- Observe and assess students’ performance, behavior, and well-being; provide timely
interventions when needed.
Family & Community Engagement:
- Communicate regularly with families regarding academic performance, behavior, and student
growth. - Collaborate with staff, counselors, and administrators to support each student’s needs
holistically.
Professional Growth & Collaboration:
- Attend all professional development sessions, conferences, and workshops to continually
improve instructional practice. - Participate actively in grade-level, content-area, and data meetings.
- Embrace feedback and coaching from instructional leaders and colleagues to strengthen
teaching effectiveness.
Qualifications:
- A passionate commitment to Promise Academy’s mission, vision, and belief in student
potential. - Valid Tennessee teaching license (or working toward K-5 licensure).
- Demonstrated ability to build meaningful relationships with students and families.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Willingness to innovate, collaborate, and lead with empathy and integrity.
